Visual Printing and Enhanced Reports with VIPER Graphical printing under PROGRESS becomes possible (and comfortable). VIPER works like an PROGRESS 4GL enhancement which gives you the ability, to use Windows printer drivers for printing. The core of VIPER consists of an dll (viper32.dll). This file is wrapped by a Progress file (viper.p) which makes the functionality available in your apps. Viper's goal is to allow the printing capabilities of windows systems to be used inside Progress, while retaining the transparency and controlability of the printing process for the program. With this objective in mind, all automatically engaged functions have been avoided wherever the programmer can retain practical control, without increasing the amount of superfluous programming tasks. The control over the page separation lies in the hands of the programmer, whereby a kind of automatic line feed exists through the group logic. On the other hand the text can be positioned on the paper relatively unrestricted. VIPER advantages
